Jazz in Georgia has always transcended academic boundaries - it has been a spiritual language, a platform for improvisation, a voice of freedom. Even during the Soviet years, when all forms of difference were suppressed, jazz remained a symbol of resistance - a luminous, pulsating impulse in the darkness.

A special place in this history belongs to Tamaz Kurashvili -  a unique performer, teacher, and mentor who shaped the path of dozens of musicians. Tatuza became the founding father of Georgian jazz.

Tatuza’s dream - to have a world-class jazz club in Georgia - came true after his passing. On September 15, Tatuza Jazz Club opened its doors at Hotel Telegraph on Rustaveli Avenue, welcoming jazz lovers from Georgia and visitors to the city alike.

The club’s concept was developed by Xavier Fabre, the legendary French architect and acoustician, who created a space using rare materials tailored for exceptional acoustics. The interior design was crafted by Georgian designer Keti Kruashvili, who shaped an atmosphere suited for improvisation and focused listening. The club’s audio system was developed by leading global technology brands - L-Acoustics and Meyer Sound (USA).

Tatuza Jazz Club collaborates with well-known cultural organizations and promoters:

  • Eastern Promotions - the renowned Georgian company behind the country’s major jazz festivals;

  • Joel Chriss - an American agent and influential figure in the international jazz scene;

  • Lasha Gochiashvili - a young Georgian promoter who leads the club’s programming and artistic direction.

Together, they will bring world-renowned jazz artists to Tbilisi and mark the beginning of a new musical era in the city.
